BCF has worked one village at a time to help poor, remote or disaster impacted villages. Our mission is to improve the education standards for children living in disadvantaged regions of Bali and nearby islands, so that they can achieve better incomes for themselves, their families and broader communities.

Project

Foreign Language Classroom Upgrade at SDN 3 Dencarik in North Bali.

The Problem

BCF currently teaches English as a Foreign Language classes to approximately 6,000 students in Bali's elementary schools, but the rooms are neglected and need urgent attention.

Solutions

Upgrade an English classroom, add child friendly illustrations and make the English learning experience more fun for children and teachers alike. The illustrations are supported by trilingual translations in English, Indonesian and Balinese.

Trilingual books for storytelling and in-class projects for Grades 4 to 6 children will be added into the classrooms.

Expected Impact

The classes empower the 48 students in grades 4 to 6 towards good jobs later and improved financial security for their families, whilst respecting their mother tongue. Future English learners in the younger classes of this school of 97 students will also benefit from this project through the years.
